Started in Christmas 1994, the UK National Lottery was created as a charity in order to not only raise money for worthy causes, but also to raise the hopes and ambitions of the nation on a weekly basis. That Friday feeling really could kick in - at least on Saturday anyhow. Everyone now walks round with that deep feeling that they are going to "get lucky" tonight .... I suppose!!

A lot of people have become severely depressed after Lottery draws however. One man shot himself after he realised that he had made a mistake on buying the tickets for his Syndicate. He had bought a six week ticket on a standard forecast. He and his fellows leaped for joy when their numbers came up trumps on the draw, but when they went to find the ticket they found that the six weeks had run out the previous Saturday.
